Sneak peek

Dear followers and passers-by : the gallery is on track to open in the coming weeks!

We have started receiving the artworks that we commissioned this summer from our favorite artists. We’re currently in the middle of making proof prints which truly look stunning. We can’t wait for everyone to see them!

Here’s a sneak peek at the very first print of an artwork from our first opening collection. This one was hand cut on a good old self-healing cutting mat, but we plan to invest in more advanced cutting gear in the near future, which will make our life a lot easier.

We also take the opportunity to announce that we will offer a framing option from day one. People will therefore be able to choose between framed and unframed prints. As always, we stayed true to our commitment to offer a quality product by choosing one of Europe’s most famous framing supplies maker.

We hope to see you again around here once we’re all set.

Seeds of Art

Don't panic, we are not switching to selling gardening products.

We recently acquired this lovely miniature fig tree, which is growing slowly but surely. It's not bearing fruits but it gives us an excuse to keep you updated about the project.

Big decision for us : from now on, we will be commissioning artists to create new artworks for our gallery.

Therefore, we are now selecting artists based on their personal style, rather than focusing on specific existing artworks. This commissioning process will thus always have an element of surprise, when we discover the final artwork, and actually we think it's really exciting.

Several reasons made us choose this route :

  • As a customer, you will be sure to buy a new artwork
  • It will be totally exclusive to our gallery and sold nowhere else
  • All sizes will be homogeneous and thus easier to frame

Another important decision : we plan to release our editions under the form of successive collections, each one associated with a theme of our choosing. The first theme will be announced at a later date.

As far as I'm concerned, I like the fact that each artwork will belong to a whole, giving it more meaning. Hopefully, it will also provide more insight into the artist's creative work.

If everything goes as planned, we should be opening right after the summer. Fingers crossed!

For your reading pleasure

Today we’d like to present you some of our regular doses of inspiration : three great art magazines showcasing illustrative artworks. These publications come from Canada, UK and France, and we couldn’t wait any longer to share these with you.

Ammo (UK) :

Small but strong, Ammo is a tiny magazine (A6 format) which features nonetheless a huge number of illustrations in each issue, as well as some interviews with very promising artists.

Avoiding anything unnecessary and keeping it simple, it’s the perfect publication for discovering new talents in the blink of an eye. Hats off to David Hughes (creative director) for the quality of his selection and the design of Ammo.

Uppercase (Canada) :

Uppercase is a quarterly publication which defines itself as a magazine “for the creative and the curious”. Each issue is a journey into the wonderous worlds of illustration, fashion, design and photography.

Uppercase is a magazine not only content-heavy (one-hundred pages) but also a true pleasure to the eyes. Really, I dare you not to interrupt your reading in amazement at the beautiful layout and the tasteful choices in colors and typography. The overall quality of Uppercase magazine literally makes you want to create something!

Hey! (France)

Hey! is a bilingual French-English publication with two issues released so far. We discovered it almost by accident, wandering in our favorite library in Paris.

Anne & Julien deserve great attention for their hard work of selecting and featuring artists from all over the world in a magazine without any ads. As they put it, Hey! is "not here to please everyone" but we think it will satisfy many audiences : artists, collectors or simply anyone interested in contemporary art off the beaten track inspired by urban and popular culture.
